Studio brief 03: Post crit Research London Identity

One of the suggestions I received in the interim crit was to look at road signs and the subtle typography that people link to city and urban living. So not only does the following research look into road sign typography, particularly in London but also the London Underground typography, in an effort to create subtle references to the subject and inspiration for the designs of this brief.
The thing that immediately stands out about these standard London signs is the way that nearly all the glyphs are the same width, except W and presumably M. This is something worth experimenting with to see if it adds a London Identity to the type.

The London Underground is a particularly recognisable piece of London design, so hopefully it will subtly but effectively communicate a London essence.

The most notable aspect of this font is the continuous line weight throughout the stroke of every letter. The could be applied to the project by changing the corners of the letters so that the weight is maintained uninterrupted by corners.

Below is the URL to the post detailing these ideas enacted.
