There were a number of other articles in the independent that returned to the topic of the Hinckley point power station, the tone of which are a lot more opinionated than the first.
The article above takes quite a nationalistic view on the subject as can be seen by the picture, the author wants the energy created in Britain in British hands. The strong view point expressed in this article acts as a stimulant for thought on the readers part intended as a catalyst for conversation and interest after the informative yet mostly neutral article from the writers at the independent. This article is from a free lance writers perspective, once again the independent distances its self from these subjective views by pointing this out with a picture of the author at the beginning.
There is also a small extract from a letter written by a reader on the subject. This has less of a tone of the incitement to riot of the one above but still conveys an opinion, be it taking a slightly different focus. (He looks at the cost of nuclear power in comparison of renewable fuels). Once again this set up of the objective article from the independent and then numerous opinions stimulates the reader to form their own opinion.
This illustration is placed next to the letter sent by a reader and it outlines the opinion expressed by the reader, once again depicting an extreme view to catalyse the opinion of the reader and add a tint of ridicule to the story arguably manipulating the reader into absorbing the opinion expressed.
