Opinions:
- Insects can be beautiful.
- There are three contributing factors to the fear of insects.
- The proximity of insects contributes to our fear of them (they are always nearby.)
- The fact that we can often not see the insects increases our fear of them (we cannot defend against them).
- The negative connotations of some can give all a bad press.
- The possibility of insects exploiting humans to our detriment is scary.
- Insects seem more physically advanced than us.
-They take a technological approach to survival.
- They have numerous solutions to environmental problems.
- In order to survive, insects have an endless ability to exploit the organism around them.
- The way insects constantly exploit one another doesn't appeal to a human temperament.
- Insects have made survival an art form.
- Their exoskeleton structure creates a cold, precise, almost robotic way of moving.
- The tracks of insects depict this robotic movement.
-"The longer the legs the creepier that are"
- This parallel between insects and robots suggests that we are scared of what the insects could do rather than what they are doing. (in fictional situations robots alway rise up against us, if insects eve love enough, whats stopping them?...this is the subconscious level of the fear anyway.)
- 'They are too fast and unpredictable'
-"The way they walk" is to blame for many peoples fear
-'They are really fast"
-"The way they move" Is a contributing factor to the fear of insects.

Facts:
-The proximity of an insect contributes to our fear of them.
- The carpet beetle and the dust mite are common inhabitants of our homes.
- Both dust mites and carpet beetles are too small to see.
-Bed bugs specifically target humans.
- Insects show an incredible ability to specialise.
- they have specialised equipment for different habitats.
- Fossorial fore legs are modified for digging.
- Natorial forelegs are modified for swimming.
- Insects exploit organisms around them to stay alive.
- Specific wasp larvae gather together on flower stems and trap bees that come in to land.
- Specific bee larvae trick ants into looking after them.
- Insects use c-evolution to stay in front of the evolutionary race.
- Co-evelution is the constant exploitation of one another and the development to counteract  and improve said exploitation.
- Fast reproduction means that mutation can occur faster in insects.
- Aphids give birth to young with more young already inside them.
- The diversity of insects is greater than any other group of organisms.
- Metamorphosis is something that occurs in many fictional monsters or aliens.
- The movement style of the alien in ALIEN was base on that of insects.
- All insects go through metamorphosis of some kind.
- Kafka never used the word insect in his novel Metamorphosis. (also translated as the transformation)

Statistics:
- 100% of people in my survey were at least sometimes scared of insects.
- 55% of women and 18% of men are scared of insects.
- Thousands of insects live in a typical household.
- Bed bug incidents are three times more likely in urban areas.
- Insect structures vary so greatly that in fore legs alone there are 5 different categories within which there are multiple sub categories.
- Insects are one of the longest surviving groups of organisms on the planet.
- They have survived for millennia when 99.9% of all organisms to have ever lived are extinct.
- In my survey 6 out of 8 people cited the way insects moved as the reason for their fear.
- Arachnophobia is one of the top ten phobias in the world.
- Arthropods count for 80% of all animal species on our planet.
- One bee produces one spoonful of honey in its life time.
- 35% of all human food is dependent on pollination by arthropods.
- The world wide value of crops pollenated by insects is worth 120 billion pounds a year.
- 84% of crops grown In Europe depend on insect pollination.
- Locust Swarms can consume enough crops to feed half a billion people.
- In one season one aphid can produce one billion decedents.
- One ladybird can eat 5,000 aphids in a lifetime.
- The pest control provided by insects is valued at $60 billion in the US alone.
- 1.5% of insect species are inimical to out interests.
- 52% of insects are endangered.
