First Day of Introduction Brief

Once separated out into our groups we were given one of the problems that we had thought of the week before, the group I was in was given the problem of protecting valuables as  a student. We started by coming up with a name for the project to give us some direction. Below is the mind map that resulted. The project title had to start with "How To..." So we decided to flip the problem on its head by calling it "How To Lose Your Shit", to create a kind of what not to do guide. As you can see we then went on to come up with ideas such as an app, key ring, comic, ect, and we started to think about creating a kind of pack that new students would be given during freshers week to help them look after their valuables.

Simultaneously, we also created a mind map of the different ways valuables could be lost to help with the future development of some of our ideas. For example, if we were to pursue the idea of a 'what not to do" satirical guide, then having some examples and ideas of what not to do would come in handy.

We expanded upon some ideas we had generated in order to identify some areas that were worth researching. Below is an example of a mind map created from this expansion of these ideas.

At the end of our first day in this brief we separated out the research that we wanted to get done between each team member and expanded on our original ideas mind map (at the top of the page) until it grew into what you can see below.
