The word I got given to specifically research in this brief was insects and for the interim crit we each had to identify the area within this subject that we were going the research in depth in various different ways. To get started a group of us put the word we had been given at the top of a page and passed it around so that each person could wright what came to mind. I felt a profitable exercise to analysis the feedback I got from this.
-Food/Protein
This could be in reference to many eastern cultures where insects of many type are often eastern, this brings to mind the contrasts in the way different cultures look at insects and could be a profitable route to go down because of the variety of results I could get. The way that many western cultures fear many insects just on grounds of the way they look or the way they move where as they are seen as farmable and edible animals by others. This could stimulate a route of research surrounding the way that so many film monsters are based on aspects drawn from the structure of insects.
-Tropical Wildlife
Within the brackets of 'insects' their are numerous different species and types that vary greatly, there are thousands of different types, some undiscovered. Many insects alive today have a distinct evolutionary path that is demonstrated by other insects still alive (live example of evolution) These links could be a route for research. Also the word tropical suggests bright colours, many insects had distinct jewel like colouring, these colours could be a route for research even looking into their part in inks and dyes such as cochineal and the historical implications of such.
-Pet Shops
So many animals feed off of insects and they form the foundations of all food chains. I could look into how important insects really are both in the present day and in the general development of all species. I could also look into the influence insects have on commercial acts, such as farming and the symbiotic relationships often formed.

This is a really interesting one because it focusses on the fear surrounding insects of all types, especially dangerous ones. This could be a really profitable research area because I could not only look into the structure of insects by going to the natural history museum but look into the visual aspects of insects through documentaries such as the macro universe series and how the media has played a roll in fostering this fear through the creation of insectile movie monsters and even colour associations such as the black and yellow of wasps and danger.
-Outdoors
This comment could also tie into the privies because of the way people assume insects stay outside yet there are no doubt numerous microscopic insects that I've in our homes such as dust mites and looking into these could help to shine a light on peoples fears especially when considering the latest false widow saga.
