I really wanted to collaborate of this brief, since we got the chance to, because working in a group of any size means you learn so much from those you are working with. So, I have managed to convince a friend on the course to put up with me for a week.
Once we started talking about the brief we immediately focussed on the idea of type as a visual form of language. As we talked about this the subject of sound and the voice came up which then developed to onomatopoeia and the way they seem like a translation of a simple sound. This got us thinking about the possibility of translating this into other formats, taste for example. Could there be a way to create flavours that represent other words onomatopoeic or otherwise? Could flavour and visuals come together to create an experience that connotes an emotion?
we set a certain amount of research that each of us would do on the first night the first of which was to make a list. Mine is as follows:
-Crackle
-Snap
-Bubble (may not make a sound but it really captures the essence)
-Sizzle
-Ooze
-Conundrum
-Whisper
-Zing
The next step is to look into recipes that could help us express these themes.
