Choosing a subject matter that interests you helps the create the link between the practical and written work. The thought that is needed in written work should be blended with the practical aspect of your work. The module is about engagement in the theoretical background of your practice.
The topic and question needs to be something that you can make work to explore and research the topic. Because of the specific nature of the subject matter the module is individually driven, you receive marks for your organisation and it is an important part of the information and experimentation of the module.
Understanding the historical, cultural and social understanding of your subject matter. Understand the context specifically of what you are interested in .
The projects undertaken need to have a logical, critical and theoretical exploration that is planned and considered.
Research must form an important part of the project in its many guises as well as you ability to manage and analyse the outcomes of said research. Bring the two sides of practical and written work together, consider them equal and use both to learn and explore the subject of your choice. The practical should not only be the manifestation of the written theory but also takes these ideas further and possibly discovers more.
Consider what kind of professional you want to be and how can you use this module to get closer to that. This way you will be truly engaged in the subject. Make the question as simple but specific as you can possibly make it.
