OUGD501 Context of Practice 02 Further Experimentation and Filming

Although I have developed a lot of the lettering already, I thought it would be more productive to work as I film from this point on.
I am filming upside down and with the tripod a reversed to film as close s possible so that when I change location later in the process it can be as little a change as possible.

I looked into developing from the isometric grid and playing with a possible three dimensional aspect of the type.

A small hiccup in that the camera battery died and I couldn't rent a charger fro the photography shop. So, simply intended to blow off some frustration I played around with a large flat brush and some inks, inspired by the caligraffiti research detailed in the last post.
It is fascinating the way playing with scale affects the letters and the way the inks can be wonderfully messy and expressive.

In fact I found this seems like a possible route for experimentation. It goes so much further than the traditional practice of calligraphy and proves that inspiration can be found in old practices and pastiches.
